The ultrasonic weld joins aluminum and copper busbars without melting, splash, or residues, ensuring highly reliable, repeatable intermetallic joints with low electrical resistance. Battery cell and BMS connections are made with 300–500µm wires, and prismatic cells with 2000µm × 400µm ribbon. Direct ultrasonic welding is used for direct busbar connections for example in copper 3 × 3mm, thickness 1.2mm. Hesse laser welders joins higher-current connections with minimal force. A moving welding head applies controlled force at each weld point, optimizing contact at the weld. The enclosed nozzle extracts fumes and captures particles, maintaining clean processing conditions. Repeatable optical parameters reduce setup time, while programmable weld shapes allow for adaptable, user-friendly operation.

Scheugenflug industrial dispensing solutions provide high-precision material application for battery assembly, ensuring reliable cell fixation, efficient thermal potting for bottom and sidewall cooling, and secure adhesion and encapsulation of connections. Featuring multi-nozzle fast dispensing and multi-pump systems, the technology ensures consistent mixing and highly accurate, bubble-free material application. Precision volumetric pumps, coupled with advanced material supply and control, deliver repeatable and reliable dispensing performance. Real-time 2D and 3D optical metrology enables 100% in-process quality control, monitoring dispense height, width, and material consistency. These innovations enhance productivity, improve repeatability, and reduce scrap and rework, ensuring consistently high-quality results.

Comet’s advanced X-ray inspection solutions provide high-resolution 3D scanning and automated optical inspection (AOI) for precise failure detection in battery manufacturing. Key capabilities include assessing battery stack deformation, electrode alignment, and thickness, as well as identifying quality issues such as particle contamination, welding defects, tab irregularities, and assembly cracks. Utilizing high-end X-ray systems, Comet ensures superior image capture with AI-assisted processing for enhanced defect detection.
