BRAUN Matthias

Matthias Braun is responsible for developing the end-to-end logistics and supply chain network for Volkswagen Group’s in-house battery cell production at PowerCo SE, a role that he began in January 2022. He is responsible for the logistics across battery cell production, including planning, network design, organisation, and material flow. Also included is the responsibility for building up the necessary Digitalization for the processes, not only within the logistic processes but also for the overall Manufacturing process such as MES and the production related infrastructure inside the factory. Besides this his organization covers the responsibility for all logistics for the machine suppliers for the battery cell production at PowerCo’s worldwide factories which are coming mainly from Asian suppliers.

Prior to this, Matthias Braun was head of digitalisation and new concept development at Volkswagen Konzernlogistik (Group Logistics), which manages logistics across group brands, where he was responsible for implementing new technologies in supply chain management, including artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicles. He joined Volkswagen in 1999 and has worked across group logistics in areas including pre-series logistics, order management, inbound logistics and network planning.
